Resilience Day

Oh my, it has been a long time since I have logged into this blog.

Life has been amazing and I have so many things I could blog about since the last time I sat down and wrote, however, I will begin by sharing about yesterday’s event at TopGolf in Oberhausen.

Although I am not too good at golfing, I could not deny a free 2-hour fun day with other people. The event was hosted through the GK CHAPEL.

I was happy to learn that we were offered free still and sparkling water, an order of nachos, and had 2 hours to play. Parking is thankfully free.

In the end, we were able to take a group photo and share many laughs; only a few people were good at golfing.

🤣 Cant deny a fun experience, nonetheless. I hope you all had an amazing FriYAY and I look forward to many more blogs, as well as an amazing weekend.

Mannheim through the Black Forest and Alsace Region, France

4 June, I checked out of my hotel around 1100, then it was off to the next location; Bad Krozingen which is located in the Black Forest. As I was leaving, I needed to fill up gas, so I found this ESSO station about 16-minutes from my hotel. This ESSO also has the bakery inside, so I made sure and enjoyed a cheese pretzel with a coke for my drive.

The drive from Mannheim to Bad Krozingen is a little under 3hr, but its mainly autobahn the entire route. I booked a single room from 4-6 June at Hotel Brigitte, this cute, family owned and operated hotel is located in the quiet resort area of the city, Bad Krozingen; there’s other resorts and spas walking distance near, and a huge park, Kurpark Bad Krozingen, that offers walking trails, a nice creek, and even a view cafes. The hotel offered a great breakfast, free parking, and was also pet-friendly. For local dinner and spa day, I recommend Eden Hotel an Den Thermen their outdoor terrace is ADORABLE; great for a date night.

This trip I was traveling only with my pups, so since my husband did not come, I had McDonalds for my first dinner, but anyhow, I skipped ahead to dinner. Let’s back track to the early afternoon after I checked into my hotel.

I discovered this romantic, medieval town in the Alsace Wine Region of France, 39-minutes from my hotel.

P.S. YOU DO NEED A PURPLE FRANCE VIGNETTE! Order one here.

This magical city, Eguisheim, France, was a city out of a fairytale. The cobblestone streets, lined with art galleries, cafes, and shops, all located inside preserved half-timbered buildings. Equisheim is a small city, but perfect for an afternoon or day-trip depending if you plan to wine taste at the many wineries nearby.

During this stay I also visited Colmar, France; Colmar is a town in the Grand Est region of northeastern France, near the border with Germany. Its old town has cobblestone streets lined with half-timbered medieval and early Renaissance buildings. The Gothic 13th-century, Eglise Saint-Martin church stands on central Place de la Cathédrale. The city is on the Alsace Wine Route, and local vineyards specialize in Riesling and Gewürztraminer wines. Colmar is also nicknamed ‘The Venice of France’, below in my photo you’ll see why.

This city was so beautiful! I hear the Christmas Market is spectacular as well!

If you are in this region, and road tripping like I am, please take the time to visit Breisach, Germany; located along the Rhein River, on the border of France, Breisach is a town with approximately 16,500 inhabitants, situated along the Rhine in the Rhine Valley, in the district Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, about halfway between Freiburg and Colmar – 20km away from each – and about 60km north of Basel near the Kaiserstuhl, Germany. It is a must! If you want to see more of Breisach, please visit my Instagram. 😀

Road Trip Through Europe

Me again, I told you all that I am starting back up on blogging.

No, it is not going to be daily, because after I return to normal life and work after this vacation I know I will not blog daily, so I will commit to saying I’ll blog when I have something interesting to share. 🙂

Now let’s talk about the fun stuff: VACATION! 3 June through 21 June, I am taking a road trip through Europe, specifically Black Forest, Germany, Switzerland, the Alsace Region in France, Austria, Northern Italy, Liechtenstein, and then coming up through southeastern Germany.

I apologize for the long post this is about to be, but I don’t want to miss anything.

On 3 June, I left home and started my trip in Mannheim, Germany where I stayed in a quiet hotel called Rheinauer Hof – Das Hotel am Riedweg, this hotel was out of the city center, but Mannheim-Rheinau train station was 700m (9-minute walk) from the hotel and the location offered FREE parking, and was in a quiet area. There is a Penny located behind the hotel, if you want to grab snacks or anything, and most importantly, I was 14-minutes from Heidelberg, Germany, which is where I spent my first afternoon.

Getting to Heidelberg is easy, but there were a few options: I could have taken the train via S-Bahn which would have taken 53-minutes, or by car, which was 14-minutes. I chose the car option, because I wanted to save time. Upon arriving to the city, I could not help but to notice how much charm Heidelberg had, the architecture, the landscaped side walks, it was amazing.

I parked my car in an underground parking garage: Parkhaus P10 Parking for the afternoon was less than 10 euro.

Exiting the parking garage, you enter Friedrich-Ebert-Platz where not only can you relax and people-watch, but the plaza hosts a weekly produce market, and during the holiday season, there’s a Christmas market. Save the location in Google Maps 📌

I walked along the Neckarufer, where I enjoyed the sound of the flowing river, boats of sorts, and street food trucks lined the sidewalk, but I did not stop because my goal was to view the Heidelberg Castle.

Once I got to the castle, masks were mandatory due to the current Covid restrictions, but I purchased my ticket and had no time limit to explore. My first stop was, Beckhaus, this cafe was located in the square of the castle had the best oven-baked apple strudel I have ever had.

I recommend getting a bit to eat before you explore! Walk off the calories, right!?

Upon purchasing your castle entry ticket, you have the ability to visit the Deutsches Apothekenmuseum for no additional cost. I enjoyed this! It was small, but lost of information in all languages. Depending on the time of year you visit, I would think it would be great for summer months to get out of the heat for a moment. Family-friendly, too!

After the castle tour, you can ride the Bergbahn down to the city, or simply walk. There’s a marked path back to the city center. I wanted to walk so I could admire the neighborhood next to the castle. The Schloßberg Street is lined with beautiful homes! Along with the Old Town, there’s so many great alley’s to admire and even more family-friendly activities, please visit TheCrazyTourist for more on what to do while in Heidelberg.

My trip in Mannheim was for one night, then it was off to the Black Forest!

Blogging Restored

Hello all! It has been a while since I have made a blog post. That thing called life and going through the motion of the pandemic had me feeling unmotivated to really sit down and blog.

I will say I need to start adding posts from weekend trips and such that I did take over the last year. As much as difficult year this has been, it’s also been a year growth, mentally, physically and emotionally.

As I am typing this blog post, and I backing up my camera roll, so I can sit down and write current posts and share them with you all. I am currently on vacation and want to share all the good details with you all so stay tuned!

Blondes have more fun, right?!

On Friday, last week I did something major, I COLORED MY HAIR AGAIN! 😀 Although I’m technically silver, I am so happy to have lighter hair for the summertime.

The last time I colored my hair was about four years ago in Oklahoma City. My stylist at the time talked me into doing it, it was so fun and edgy, however, platinum was the fad back then, so it was hard to keep up with keeping it so white. Fast forward to 2020, and silver is the new and upcoming trend for men, so I have hopped on the bandwagon! Below will be pictures, what do you all think?

Motivational Monday

Hello all!

It has been a while since I have posted. Due to COVID, I really have not been inspired to sit and blog, however, I have been staying active.

Since my last post, lots of things have taken place. For one, I accepted a job here in Germany. I started work today, 22 June. So since finding out about my new job, I have been staying busy as I can.

If you followed me for a while, you know that I have always enjoyed running, however since moving to Germany, and having so many bike trails, I have taken on a new hobby of cycling, and have been training to complete a metric century bike ride. I hope to complete that within the next week or two.

Secondly, the restrictions in Germany have relaxed as the time as gone, so I have taken a few day trips, and as of recently, a few weekend trips. 🙂 Traveling and exploring is something I can never fall out of love with. I will share a few pictures of places I have been over the last couple of weeks.

All of these pictures can be found on my Instagram, too if you are needing a location. During the COVID travel restrictions, I was able to drive down to the Kaiserslautern area to hike, twice. This area is wonderful for a weekend trip or a getaway. The forest I hike was breathtaking!

Bremen, Germany:

I fell in love with Baden-Baden, though my first time was a rainy mess, I was still about to see the beauty.

15 June, most of Europe is opening its borders to travel. I hope you are all staying healthy and most importantly, I hope you all aren’t allowing these crazy times to harm your mental health. If you can’t travel, going for a walk in your local park or downtown area is always nice. You never want to may come across if you just randomly walk around. Thanks for checking in, I am excited to have a little more normalcy again and I hope to get back into blogging.

Follow my blog on Steller, www.steller.com/TyWanderlust there I will post stories of my travels. This blog I am going to keep for posting about everyday life, as I get back into the norm of life, I hope to use this platform as an outlet for creativity and my life.

xoxo,

Tyson

German Fairytale Town

Bad Münstereifel is a craftsmanship town from a picture book. The old city center is located within the old, largely preserved, city wall, which makes the whole city even more picturesque. It is a tourist town that is now called an Outlet because they have a mix of outlet and existing shops here. Of course, due to #covid_19 most places are closed.
Bad Münstereifel is on my list, once the world heals for all this chaos.

Liège, Belgium

374-step staircase over this beautiful city; less than a hour away, in Belgium…. 😎 The staircase is named after Vincent de Bueren, who defended the city of Liège against an attack by the Duke of Burgundy, Charles the Bold, in the 15th century. It was built in 1881 to honor the soldiers who died in the battle.
